Drivers side headlights

I have a 1985 nissan 720 serius 4wd pickup with 201,000 miles on it. About 3 months ago the low beam headlight was dim and when you turn on the bright lights the low beam becomes dimmer and the high beam doesn't work at all. The passenger side is fine. I have of course changed both headlights with no luck and checked the fuses which were good but changed them just to be on the safe side and still no change in the headlights. Also, if you take out the headlights on the passenger side then the headlights on the drivers side do not work at all (didn't know if it is supposed to do that or not really). I have found no cut wires anywhere on the tracing of the electrical system, no burns, nothing. I have been stumped. Ideas? Thanks!

I have a pathfinder that was doing the same thing a few years back. It turned out to be the combination switch. The prongs inside were just worn out enough that they wouldn't light up all the way. It then got so bad that the lights would flicker on and off. That sounds like the only thing you still have to check.
