I just got this truck (used from a 1 owner) and the check engine light is on.
I have read on the net about self diagnostics and I do not think mine has it. Autozone says they can't check it or sell me a tester either, same with other parts stores.
i am pretty sure theres no switch on the computer or anything that can be turned with a screw driver.
i did find a diagnostic port under the dash, it also has a blue one by it. What tester do I buy?
does it support self diagnose?
where do I go from here?

Your truck does have self diagnostic capabilities, but you will have to remove the passenger seat and the ECU cover. Yes you put it in diagnostic mode with a small screwdriver, but you will need a shop manual to decipher the codes and tell you the procedures for doing so. Harbor Freight and other places still sell some of the older code readers to connect into the plug under the dash. That is your best bet for now. Good luck.
