I am wondering if I have to remove the timing belt in order to replace the water pump? Also, the guard covering the waterpump has a bolt under the main crank pulley. How do I remove that?

Disconnect battery ground cable and drain coolant from right side drain cocks on cylinder block and radiator. Remove all drive belts and timing belt covers. If necessary, refer to ''Timing Belt''. Refer to Fig. 92 to complete water pump replacement procedure. CAUTION : Be sure not to spill any coolant on the timing belt. If you do, wash off with clean water immediately!
