89 Nissan Sentra Blue Smoke

I have an 89 NISsan sentra which runs awesome but the car is obviously burning oil. It goes through a lot and there is blue smoke coming out of the exhaust. It doesn't do it all the time, but when it does there is a lot of smoke. But like I said it runs great! What could be the problem? Thank you!
