I'm not sure if this is a transmission problem or not. But when I have the car in drive, sometimes I hear a loud "purring" type sound coming from the engine area of the car. It only happens when the gears are engaged and I am stopped at a light or at a drive thru for a few minutes. I was wondering if I might need to replace the filters in the transmission or if there was some other component that may be causing this sound.

Hi tony. Well if you have not serviced trans yes you should filter could be dirty and starveing the pump. The noise could be torque convertor or pump in trans. But until you service you won, t be able to tell. Thanks billymac
