My 1995 nissan sentra will start making a rattling noise as soon as I put it on drive. It seems to me like it also loses a bit of power. I have changed the spark plugs and wires, the distributor cap and rotor and the fuel filter. And nothing! Could you please help!

I will make a donation after you help me with the problem if you're correct!

Rattling noise? Does it sound like its coming from the engine compartment or under the vehicle?

I would suspect exhaust heat shields or a bad catalytic convertor, shake them and see if they rattle.

The noise sounds like its coming from under the car, I took it to a mechanic and he messed with the distributor cap but said that it sounded like the timing chain wasn't correct. Also that noise doesn't happen when its idleing, but as soon as I start driving it, it starts.

I found this post on page 6 of this forum, unfortunaly you guys did not respond to this question, but it's the same thing that's happening to my car.

Transmission problem
1995 Nissan Sentra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 117000 miles

Transmission shifts and seems to work just fine. But while it's in gear, more noticably at high RPMs, it makes a sort of an old bike chain type noise. Comibned with a slight rattling to it. I only hear it while its in gear. I dont hear the sound at all while im coasting in nuetral and have the RPMs up.I sent a question about the gas mileage on the same car being terrible. Could this be related?
