1991 Nissan Sentra alternator

Hi- I am having a problem removing the alternator now that all wires, bolts and belt have been removed.I have tried everyway I know of to remove it from under the hood. The space is just to small. DoIhave to go under the car and drop the starter to?

From what I see on the directions you probably just have to work with it for it to be removed . They don't say anything about removing the starter . The directions are in the bottom link .
