My truck idles to about 400-500 rpm then goes down to regular rpm when I take off driving anywhere. I've checked the transmission oil and it was fine.

So your saying it is idling high? Does it idle fine after the engine is warmed up?

It is normal for the vehicle to idle higher than when in gear, and also idle higher when the vehicle is just started.

No what actually happens is, it revs up to about 4000-5000 rpm when I take off and then jumps into gear. It does it each time I take off.

So it idles fine, as soon as the gas pedal is pressed with the vehicle in gear, rpms shoot up then vehicle moves?

Or does it idle high in gear and as soon as you move it slows.

It idles fine. It's just when I press on the accelerator, it goes up to about 4000-5000 rpm before it jumps into gear. If I barely press on the accelorator when I take off, it jumps into gear around 3000-4000 rpm but if I press down regularly, that's when it goes to the 4000-5000 rpm. Could it possibly be something with my transmission and would I need another one? I've checked my oil level and it's fine.
