I bought my vehicle from its second owner. From ever since the vehicle has been giving me a very unstable ride. It swings from side to side while driving. Whenever I depress the accelerator, it swings to one side. Also from time to time I hear a thumping sound somewhere in the rear whenever I slow down and stop and whenever I move off. I have done extensive work on the front end, and still no change.

Sounds like 2 problems.

The thumping sounds like either a bad u-joint or a internal problem with the gears in the differential.

I would check all the mounting points for the rear end and any other suspension parts in the rear area for signs of play.
