2004 Other Nissan Models What is that knocking sound in the

When I start my '04 Quest, there is a knocking sound or clicking sound that comes from the engine. I have small amounts of oil that leak on the driveway. Yet my oil level when we check it is ok. Someone said it could be a broken head gasket? The car starts fine. And the noise seems to quieten down after driving a while. The noise is loudest when I first start it. Any ideas?

Hi joeyend,

Not sure if this engine is belt or chain driven and if equipped with hydraulic valve lifters.

If it is chain driven, you ought to have it checked. Looks like it might be the cause of the noise.
