Driving into work this morning, my amber engine light has come on. My handbook is at home (Im a prat I know), can you please tell me what this means?

Could be the check engine light informing you that there's a problem in the engine management system and you need to get the computer scanned for code/s to find out what's causing the light to come on. Autozone will do this free for you.
