My 95 Maxima began randomly dying on me about 2 years ago. It's only done it a handful of times since then, I'd say every 2-3 months. It happens while idling or going slowly, under about 20 miles per hour. The engine completely loses power, and when I try to restart it turns over a bit but normally starts back up pretty easily.

Also, once the engine is warm (after driving about 10 minutes), it makes a high-pitched squealing noise while idling. It stops immediately when I put my foot on the gas. It continues even when in park. I'm not sure if these two problems are related.

Hi janachristine,

Thank you for the donation.

The engine stalling could be a fault with the idling system and I would suggest getting the throttle body and Auxiliary Air Control valve cleaned.

Squesling noises are usually caused by loose or worn beltings. Check the condition and tension of the drive belts.

Loose beltings can cause inefficient charging and that can cause the stalling during low engine speed as well.
