Hi there,

According to Mitchell 1 there are 3 transmissions used in the Maxima for 91-2 check the trans ID No is identical with the unit you want to swap with.

It is possible that the transmission from a 1992 Nissan Maxima could be compatible with a 1991 Nissan Maxima, but it would depend on a few factors.

The 1991 and 1992 Nissan Maximas had the same engine, a 3.0-liter V6, but there were some changes to the transmission and the transmission control module (TCM) between the two model years.

The best way to determine if the transmission from the 1992 Nissan Maxima will work in your 1991 Nissan Maxima would be to check the part numbers and the physical differences between the two transmissions. The part numbers for the transmissions should be the same or very similar, and the physical dimensions and connections should match up.

It is also worth noting that the transmission from the 1992 Nissan Maxima may have different gear ratios or other differences that could affect the performance of the vehicle. If you are not experienced with replacing transmissions or working on vehicles, it may be best to consult with a qualified mechanic or transmission specialist before attempting this type of repair.
