Im going to attempt to replace the timming belt, if the valves are bent, how big of a problem will I be dealing with, and how can I find out if they are bent before hand.

The only real way to know for sure if the valves are bent is to pull the intake and exhaust manifolds and look through the ports at this point it would not hurt just to lift up the heads and check the bottom side because when the valves hit the top of a piston they will create a nice little line for you to see. Or just pray that it did not jump time to bad or if it has not and has not yet snapped the belt then line it up at tdc and change it
