My 2005 Nissan Frontier oil pressure gauge is indicating very high oil pressure when engine is running but also when ignition is turned on and engine is not running. Would it be a bad sending unit or bad gauge?

Could be the oil pressure relief valve is not opening or the oil pressure sending unit-Check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge-if normal replace OPSU.
