I was traveling up a mountain road when oil light came on. I pulled over right away. Engine had virtually no oil. Topped off oil and when I started on, oil light came back on. The only way it would go out was to turn engine back off and wait a minute or so. Found that oil was blown back over bell housing. Cannot detect where it was coming from. Bottom line, oil light comes on even if oil level is good. BTW, the oil leak doesn't happen all the time.
Thanks for the help.

check the dipstick, it may be coming from there, if so replace it.
