MY OIL LIGHT CAME ON AND I CHECKED IT WAS 1/2 QT LOW..ADDED AND LIGHT IS STILL ON.

Is it making noise like engine knocking?

Find the oil sending unit remove it and hook up an oil pressure tester-if normal-replace the oil sending unit.
