I have a 2006 nissan altima with 50,000 miles. What would cause thick white smoke to come out of the exhaust pipes when I start the car. This only happens when the car has been parked for several hours and it doesn't smoke while the car is parked and running or while I'm driving. It just gives out one cloud of smoke when I start it and that is it.

Relax.... It is just water vapor in the exhaust system. I recommend that you let the car idle for a minute or so before you shut it off, every time.

It also helps if you put some type of injector cleaner (I like Seafoam SF16). It helps removing water from your system.
