Engine Cooling problem
2002 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Wheel Drive Type unknown Automatic 103000 miles

have a 2002 altima that has white smoke that comes out of the exhaust right after it is started up and then for about a minute while i am driving and then stops.does not do it all the time. also it is losing coolant a couple times during the week. not over heating but the tempature jumps back and forth between normal and hot.

You don't want to keep driving like this or it will get expensive. Coolant is getting into the combustion chamber possibily from a headgasket leak.

Continued driving like this can cause serious internal engine damage, damage to the cat converter as well.

There are various ways of checking this in you want to ge down that path. If not and deal with a shop normally then get it in there ASAP.

I suggest having a head gasket test
