Even when I set my AC Knob to the maximum, rear seats are NOT getting the AC effect.

The AC is only effective till the front seats. That means only the driver seat and the front navigator seat is getting the good AC Cooling effect.

My passengers sitting on the rear seat are saying its hot without AC and I have to open the windows. OPening the windows is an option when we drive in towns/low speeds but a pain to hear the wind noise when we drive in high speeds/highways.

Please let me know the following
1. What needs to be done?
2. Approxiamate cost of the fixing it?

1. Your "mode door" is faulty. Underneath the dash, there is "door" that lets air go through either to the dash, floor, or combination. Somehow, the one for the rear seat (by the center console, IIRC) is malfunctioning.

2. Technician has to remove the entire bottom dash to get to the mode door, either put it back on the track (assuming it is not broken), or replace it. I don't have the price for the part but the labor is

Thanks for your response.

As you said, I tried to google for that "mode door" for more specifications.

But I am not finding specific information about the replacement part, replacement charges over Internet. So I thought I will emphazize the problem here again.

The problem is the AC is blowing very good cold air. But only the driver and front seat passenger can feel the effectiveness. When the turn the fan knob to maximum, the AC air is NOT blown to the back seats.

If you take new cars, the AC will be blown even to the back seats.

Can something be done about this to get this condition alike in my car?

While I understand your frustration, your AC is being distributed through the mode door. If you can feel the AC at the front seats, then the mode door is working perfectly. Unfortunately, your vehicle does not have AC ducts for the rear seat. The only option other than opening the windows is to position the center ducts

to aim directly at the rear seat.
