Electrical problem
1997 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Automatic 180000 miles

I had distributor put in my car 5/07 at midas, within a week it went bad and they had to replace it along with a crank shaft sensor.9/1/08 my car stopped again, took it tune-ups plus and it was my distributor, they said it was bad, midas replaced it after threatening legal action.12/24/08 car did same thing and it was a bad distributor, midas replaced it from a different manaufacturer along with some kind of wire. My car stopped 12/18/09 and midas said it was a bad battery, got that replaced, 12/19/09, car stopped and took it to NTB, they said it was bad distributor, midas replaced it and they said this one is brand new not rebuilt which was what I thought they said last time but this is getting rediculous.I spoke with the district manager of midas this last time and he said 'you can think of it like a bad hair dryer, they go bad'? I have a hard time believing that, can I get some advice please

I can only suggest that you have a Nissan distributor installed. Everyone I've got from a chain store was junk.

Get a 240sx distributor for the ka24de motor, thats what you have. You can find a quality one other than from the dealer. I have 4 of these cars and all are built to race. The ones I have have been discontinued but they came from stillen. Have you had your crank gear checked for wear? Theres tons of advise on quality replacement parts on www. Nissanenthuists. Com. These guys build these motors all the time.
