We replaced entire timing set. Did not prime oil pump. After reassembly, car runs well but oil pressure light only goes off at high RPM. Tried to prime pump thru oil filter hole. Light finally went off after priming oil thru oil pressure sensing unit. Started car several times and drove it home with no difficulty. Upon restarting car, oil light is on again. How can we prime pump so it stays primed?

If the pump is primed it will stay primed unless there is an air leak in the pump seal or gasket, First thing I would do is have a pressure test cold with a master gauge, just in case the sender is giving a false reading.
