1993 Nissan Altima 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 230 K miles

my speedometer works at times and now it does not work at all. I was wondering is my speedometer is going out or could this be something else. My car has 230,000 miles on it and it runs great for now.

First locate the speedometer, near the side of the transmission, check for the wire harness, if okay, remove the speedometer and check the gear, it may possibly be worn and finally gave up.
