From empty I believe I filled up with a bad tank of gas. It quickly started running poorly. Knocking, trouble accelerating, etc. I drove it until empty and filled it with high octane fuel. It performed much better. On the next fill up I went back to the lower octante fuel to see what would happen. It now is worse than the first time. It start great, runs great while in park and neutral even when iI give it gas. When I put it in drive it goes nowhere or move very slowly. If I'm facing uphill then it doesn't move. If on level surfae or downhill it will slowly go forward at very low RPM no matter how much I step on the gas. It eventually will start to pick up speed and run normally but it takes a while. Once I come to a stop it starts all over again. It runs at really low RPM's once it goes into this weird state. Even if I put it in neutral I can't get it to increase RPM. If I turn it off and restart it then it once again runs well and responds to me stepping on the gas.

Sunoco machanic could not diagnose the problem. He drained the tank and tried a higher octatan with no luck. Feels it might be the transmission. A co-worker, that also owns a Murano, has had a similar problem twice. It turned out to be the throttle assembly. I mentioned that to the Nissan mechanic when I dropped it off. He did not seem surprised or disagree with that suggestion. He told me that if that was what it was then it may be a while as they are on back order. They have been obtaining them from other dealers when needed but that is getting tougher. Did not give me the warm and fuzzies.

Getting ugly fast. Nissan called and it is the transmission. 5+K. Ugh. Over my warranty miles so I'm paying. Pisses me off as I'm religious about maintenance.
