I just put together my 240 from the ground up and I changed the water pump already. Mabye for a week I have not started the car and today when I started it everything sounded fine until I reved it pass 2200 rpms there was a high pitch metal wind noise. Im wandering if the bearing in the water pump are no good or is it because of the cold weather.I live in maryland, any suggestions would be appreciated thanks

Hello

That could be the bearings of any of the pulley components. You can use a mechanic stethoscope (or use a hollow stick i.E. Wooden broom handle) to listen carefully to each pully component and determine exactly where the noise is coming from.

Thanks for using 2CarPros. Com!

It is something that is on the serpentine belt. Perhaps alternator, idler, air conditioning, etc. Perhaps the belt itself is making the noise. I would doubt it would be the water pump if you just replaced it. I'm guessing the idler pulley is the culprit.

I did forget to mention that the a/c compressor is off so that will definitely narrow down my search but I will get a stethascope and try everything out tomorrow. Thanks guys
