After starting my truck I have been having a issue with getting the gear selector to unlock if I play around with it enough I get it to unlock, by playing with the handle and applying the brakes. Possible Neutral safety switch?
Can you tell me what is wrong with my truck?

Hi,

There is what is called a shift lock actuator which prevents the shifter from coming out of park unless the brake is depressed. This actuator is powered by the brake light switch. So, first make sure the brake lights are working when it won't shift.

If you look at the first pic I attached, I circled the park position switch. I suggest to first check to make sure the connection is tight and not damaged or corroded.

Next, the shift lock cable could be stretched. Here are directions for replacing it. I'm adding it because the directions indicate how to check if it is stretched or bad.
