I have a 1987 motorhome made by Fleetwood.
Its has a Ford drive train
460 V8
C6 transmission 3speed automatic
85000 mi.

Here's what I've done so far:

replaced battery with a top line gel brand new
Starter solenoid
Starter relay
Neutral safety switch
After getting the vehicle to start driving it approximately 2 miles motor shut down and would not start again no power to starter. Just as before changing out the NSS. My question is, when replacing the NSS do they need to be adjusted out if the box? Is there a way to test the switch to determine it's where the problem lays? It does have the dreaded auto park.
Thank you!

There is not an adjustment but there is a process on installing them. I attached the process for your review. However, if this happened and after replacing this switch caused it to run, we can't rule out that the switch just failed. Basically the way to test them is to see if you have power going in and coming out of the switch. If you do then this is not the issue. It is a simple switch so if no power coming out then the switch is not closed.

I can't thank you enough with such an in depth answer. Couldn't do much today being Thanksgiving but if I get the Bounder started first thing in the morning I will have something to be truly thankful for. I will keep you all posted with the results. Thanks again.

Well, not really sure but I have power in and power out. I have removed the switch reinstalled and had the same results all dash lights up not starter engagement a quick question concerning the small hole. What or how does it pertain to? Install I'm I suppose to punch it all the way through the back so the space measures 31/64? I'm hoping I didn't fry the switch. Any help would be appreciated.

No. You don't put it through the case of the switch. You just get it in place with the bolts loose and then put the lever in neutral. Then you put the drill bit in place. Tighten the bolts to secure it in place, then remove the drill bit. Basically this is just aligning the sensor so that it reads accurately.

Thanks, I'm back in the race thanks to you knowledge! Set the pin wiggled it around until it dropped into place tightened the retaining bolts and she started right up. I'm sure I'll have other issues with the Bounder but for now I am thankful for this site!
