I use the Rock Auto web site for that kind of information. They will have the parts listed from a number of different suppliers, with a wide range of prices. In general, at least as far as shock absorbers, the lowest cost will be close to equivalent of original equipment. It's uncommon for a manufacturer go through the trouble of design and production to make a replacement part inferior to the original. Same with ball joints, With parts like that the price is usually more related to the warranty.
