My son lost the car key, so my friend decided to knock out the Ignition with a screwdriver and he messed it up and it won't start or set off the security. It has pass lock 2. So, the sensor is in the steering column not in the key. He also damaged the switch, so I ordered another switch and installed it and called it and tried to start it with a screwdriver and it still wouldn't start. I read online about how to bypass security systems with a resistor. And I tried it but no luck, so I got an entire steering column power steering column from a junkyard, it's the wheel and column it's about 2' long. My question is, how do I install it I've got the steering wheel and the airbag off? Can't I just replace the Ignition housing that has the sensor in it? I just don't want to mess up the steering when all I have to do is replace the housing. Please help my daughter is disabled and I have to get her to school.

Hi Mitchell,

Yep, we can help you get the truck going but there is no way around the security system on these cars. When you try to crank the engine over is the security light flashing? If so, you may be able to reset it. This guide can help, and I have included the instructions on how to replace the ignition key and switch in the diagrams below. You can call the dealer for the parts, and they can program the key for you if you give them the VIN number.

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.
