I have the car listed above TDI SE model. I had a diagnostics test done on it from 4 different garages one was a VW garage which says that it's the crankshaft speed sensor. So I had a new one fitted and it didn't do anything. He also checked the battery, camshaft, camshaft sensor and the timing belt but it's still the same.

Hi,

Has fuel pressure been checked? Has anyone checked engine compression?

Let me know.

Hi,

Start with fuel pressure. It may be dropping off due to a leaky injector, leak, faulty pump and so on. Once it drops off, it takes a bit to rebuild the pressure. Low compression can also cause a delayed start. However, with the miles on it, that shouldn't be an issue at this point unless the engine was misused or not serviced.

Let me know what is found or if you have other questions.

Joe

He checked the fuel pressure and engine compression and its all fine. He said he gets a reading from the camshaft then after 5 - 10 of Turing the key seconds after the car starts the camshaft reading goes and a crankshaft reading comes up. I don't know it that's normal or not.

I believe the computer provides predetermined timing info at start, so that doesn't surprise me.

Are you able to have him check the engine coolant temperature sensor reading when starting to see if it is accurate?
