Hooked trailer up to runner, no lights, installed new trailer wiring harness, plugged in. Still no brake or direction lights and now driver side rear reverse light won't work. Was told to get a heavy-duty flasher but can't seem to get one. Even Toyota dealer said he could not get. Please help!
Thanks

Hi,

Where have you checked for one? I found several on the AutoZone website. See pic below.

As far as the issue, you can try a HD flasher, but I question if that will fix it. You should be getting something from the brake and signal lights. Have you checked for power to the light sockets?

Are the parking lights working? If you disconnect the trailer, do the vehicle's lights work properly?

Let me know.

Joe

AutoZone does not carry the HD only standard. We have vehicle turn and brake lights, but driver side rear reverse light does not work since putting the new trailer light pkg on. When hooked to a trailer the turn signal lights will work but that's all. Have also checked that there is juice going to all sockets.

I'm surprised AutoZone doesn't sell them. That was their website I sent. Now, when you connect to the trailer and only the signals work, either you have it wired wrong, or something is disconnected.

Do me a favor. Try this: Take a battery charger and connect the negative to the trailer frame where you can get a good ground connection. Then, one wire at a time at the trailer's plug, see if the lights work correctly when you touch the positive side of the charger to the pins. Also, confirm the pins are wired in conjunction with the vehicle's connector.

I'm not sure what kind of a pin you have, but a paper clip will usually work when trying to touch one pin at a time.

Let me know if they are all working and turning on from the correct pin. As far as the reverse light on the vehicle, something was disconnected when you wired it new trailer light package. Recheck the connections that were made.

Also, let me know if the vehicle's lights work even when the trailer is attached.
