However, when it's on P or N it stays on. We tried changing the throttle body as well as the fuel pump but to no avail. We even worked on the timing chain, but nothing changed.

It sounds like you have a partially clogged exhaust system, but to be sure check this guide which will help you see what's going on:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-test-a-catalytic-converter

Are there any codes in the system?

Also, it could be a locked-up torque converter or TCC solenoid. Does it seem like the engine shuts off immediately or does it take a few seconds? Let me know what you find and report back please.

The engine shuts off once you put on drive. It will take approximately 2 seconds before shutting off. It needs to be accelerated at all times once u put on drive to keep the power. And today I have noted that it has started losing its pulling.

Okay, this sounds like a vacuum leak, I would check the engine using this guide, but make sure the engine is cold before you begin. Also, check the air intake boot from the throttle body to the MAF sensor or air filter.

This guide can help as well:

Please run down these guides and report back.
