My car just quit going down the road. I had it put on a computer and it said camshaft sensor. We replaced them and it still wouldn't work. We tried to unplug the front sensor and it started. We plugged it back in and it wouldn't start again. We drove it to get it home and it drove better than it did before. I didn't go far, not even a mile. Someone told me timing is off and or the wires. But would it run well if the timing was off?

Hi,

By disconnecting the sensor, the computer goes into a predetermined setting to allow the vehicle to run.

Could the timing be off? It's possible but not likely. This engine has a timing chain and not a belt, so at the mileage on the vehicle, it is unlikely that it stretched or jumped time.

Here is what I need to know. I need the code or codes that were retrieved so I can see exactly what is happening. Oftentimes, the sensor isn't the issue. Instead, it is a wiring issue.

Let me know if you have the codes that were retrieved.

Take care,

Joe
