I have a 1981 Monte Carlo, 350 motor, edelbrock intake, Holley carb, I don't know the exact specs on them parts( not a car guy, just a drywall guy), today I extracted a broken bolt from carburetor that holds air filter in place, using an easy out, I think I might have screwed something up in the process, now it idles really high, my tach is broke, so I don't know how high, and when I put it in drive, it accelerates on its own to about 40 mph(before I applied brakes anyway) when its in reverse it gets quieter but still accels on its own, I'm so confused, what's wrong, how can I fix it? Please and thanks.

The extraction looked pretty clean, did you vacuum the shavings out of the carburetor? Are the butterflies at the bottom of the carburetor all the way close? It looks like a 600 CFM Holley? Do you know how to adjust the idle on that carburetor? Since you were working around the carburetor and the engine compartment make sure all the vacuum lines are in the right position and you didn't knock one off accidentally, check especially the brake booster vacuum line make sure that on and insecure.
