Summary of current situation:

After resolving an electrical back-feed issue related to an aftermarket fog-light relay (replaced with a Bosch relay, issue fully resolved), a separate interior light issue remains.

Current dome light behavior:
• Switch OFF → dome light OFF (normal)
• Switch ON → dome light ON (normal)
• Switch AUTO (door) → dome light stays ON continuously, even with all doors closed, engine OFF, and vehicle locked

Important observations:
• No abnormal dash behavior
• No parking or exterior light flicker
• Door ajar status shows correctly on the dash
• BCM functions normally and can turn the dome light OFF via the OFF position
• Issue is isolated only to AUTO mode

Idont know what is the cause,
could be faulty AUTO switch/contact inside the dome light assembly (housing)?

Request:
• can you please tell me what are the possible causes? And do you agree with me it could be a faulty dome switch or other things?
. What are the diagnostic steps you recommend to find out what is going on.

Thanx

The first thing I would do is check the dome light switch at each of the doors. I would remove them to see if the light stays on with the doors shut. Let me know what you find. Check out the images (below).

I followed your earlier advice and tested the door courtesy switches. With a door open, I manually press and hold a door switch (simulating the door closed), then lock the car while still holding the switch. When I release my finger from the switch after the car is locked, the abnormal behavior immediately appears: the parking lights flash and the dash displays “TURN LIGHTS OFF” for about 20 seconds. This happens with any door, not one specific switch, and the dash door-ajar indication behaves correctly while pressing and releasing the switch. During this event, the dome light does not flash (although the dome light still stays ON continuously in AUTO mode).

This behavior occurs even with the fog relay removed and the fog harness disconnected. For context, aftermarket fog lights were previously installed and an earlier issue resolved transiently after replacing the relay with a Bosch unit. Also important: an aftermarket remote starter (Start-X) was installed about three weeks before these symptoms began.

Given that all door switches respond normally and the issue aligns with lock/unlock plus door-state transitions, could the remote starter interface (parking light output, door trigger input, or BCM/CAN interaction) be disturbing the BCM lighting logic? Would temporarily disabling the remote starter be the correct next diagnostic step?

Hi sir again, I want to update things I did,
I performed further testing. All door courtesy switches were tested by manually pressing each switch, locking the vehicle while holding the switch, then releasing it; the dash door-ajar status responded correctly and the behavior was consistent across all doors (not isolated to one switch).

I disconnected an aftermarket remote starter (Start-X); once removed, all BCM-related abnormal behavior (parking light flashing and “TURN LIGHTS OFF” message during lock/unlock) stopped completely that was appearing when lock and unlock doors.

One issue remains independently: the dome light stays ON only in AUTO mode. OFF and ON modes function normally. The dome remains ON even with all doors closed and the vehicle locked, and this persists with fog lights, relays, and the remote starter fully disconnected. Unplugging the dome light assembly turns it OFF.

Door switches and BCM logic appear normal; do u think the remaining fault appears isolated to the dome light assembly (internal AUTO switch / PCB)?
Could you please tell me your opinion
Thanx

Yes, I would keep the remote start off of the car, this seems to be creating problem, then I would do a CAN scan to see what codes are present and we should be able to see which system is having an issue but if I had to guess I would say the BCM is out or the dome light override switch is bad. This video will help find out for sure.

Please go over this guide and get back to us.

Hi sir, thanx for your cooperation,
wanted to update you with additional testing results.

I completely removed the Start-X remote starter module, and the abnormal behavior (random flashing of dash/parking lights and wake-ups during lock/unlock or door interaction) stopped.

I then installed a Canadian starter called (MPC remote starter module ) instead, and with the MPC installed I do not see the previous abnormal behavior. Lock/unlock and door courtesy logic now behave normally.

However, one issue still persists: the dome light remains ON when the switch is in AUTO mode, even with all doors closed and the vehicle locked. OFF and ON positions work correctly.

Door courtesy switches test correctly at each door and the BCM reports door status accurately.

At this point, the problem appears isolated to the dome light override switch or dome light assembly itself, rather than the BCM or door inputs.

Please let me know if you agree with this assessment or if further testing is recommended.
Thanx

Yep, it sounds like the switch is bad, I would replace it which should fix the problem. Happy new year!

Hi sir, I replaced the switch ( attached pic) but still problem present, it keeps on at automatic door open button despite I turn off and lock car. No other abnormal behaviors noticed, Iam really Confused, what could be the cause?
Any ideas

Hmm, I would go back to the CAN system scan which should have a code for the problem which can help us find out what is going on.

Summary / Update:

I isolated the dome light circuit and confirmed it uses 3 wires:
- Constant +12V from DOME fuse
- Chassis ground
- BCM-controlled door/supervision ground (ground-switched)

Testing was done with the switch removed and wires floating.

Findings:
- Constant +12V is correct.
- Chassis ground is correct.
- The BCM door/supervision wire behaves like a permanent ground, even when all doors are closed and vehicle is locked.
- This causes the dome light to stay ON in AUTO mode.
- Replacing the dome switch did not change the behavior.
- Removing remote starter modules eliminated other abnormal lighting/flicker issues, but dome AUTO problem persists, so remote starter is not the cause.
- Removing the bulb or reseating it temporarily resets the behavior, but the fault returns and become permanent.
- DOME fuse (#41, 7.5A) works normally.

This points to either:
1. BCM door-ground output stuck active, or
2. Door/supervision wire shorted to ground between BCM and dome light.

Before replacing BCM, what is the best confirmation test to differentiate a BCM internal fault vs a wiring short?

So to confirm the dome override switch was replaced, the dome light trigger switch's have been checked, I don't see the image that you attached from your post above. Also, I was looking at the wiring diagrams and the trunk has a interior light switch as well so that must be included in the passenger door switches. I would disconnect all door and trunk switches to see if the problem remains, (the trunk pin switch is inside the latch so disconnect the latch electrical connector). There is a light "cut" relay on the right side of the dash that maybe stuck on as well so lets pull it to see if the lighting issues stops. If not it sounds like the BCM is having issues we need to do the CAN scan to help confirm the BCM failure. The BCM controls the interior lighting system. Here is the location of the cut relay. Check out the images (below). Let us know how it goes

Thanx, but can you help me with steps to remove glove box, as I see 2 plastic hinges for door of glove box, in other words, how to reach the relay?

Hi, want update what I did, I removed the light cut relay and the dome light which was on door open mode turned off, but I tested the relay and it function well ( no resistance beeps when touch 30 and 87 leads) and resistance between 85 and 86 is 170 ), so it looks relay is ok.
So what is your opinion? It looks problem not from relay

Yep, the relay looks good. Did you get a chance to do the CAN scan, this will help us, you can rent a CAN scanner form Autozone for free I believe.
