Hello,

Last week I had my car listed above inspected early because there were multiple lights on the dash including the (!), Brake, and maintenance required. It passed and they found nothing wrong but the lights are still on and now ABS is on too. Does anyone know what’s going on? Picture attached

The picture did not attach so can you try that again?

However, these lights should have codes that go along with them so did they give you a print out on what they found? Most states that have the state inspection is just a safety inspection so a lot of lights don't cause it to fail. However, now that the ABS is on, I suspect that would have caused the failure.

Let's scan for codes and go from there. Here is a guide that will help:

If you have no codes then I would think the cluster is the issue but I would think there are codes to go with those lights. Thanks

Sorry about that. Hopefully should upload now! My fiancé took it back to the shop after I posted it and they confirmed they scanned the codes and no error messages came up. They said they can scan it again now that the ABS light came on but thought he should take it to the dealership because they think it’s an issue with the dash. A little background, this Prius has an issue where the dash doesn’t always come on (typically in cold weather). I took it to a different shop a few years back and they did stuff they said would “help” but didn’t really.

Okay. If this is happening and there are no codes then that is usually always a cluster issue. I attached the testing info that we need to try and find out if our voltages are correct. I suspect we will see something is not correct and that is causing the cluster to think it needs the lights on. However, I suspect it is going to need to be replaced.

And is it safe for him to drive it while we wait for an appointment at the dealership?

It is always hard to know for sure when you are talking safety because I am not looking at it but the fact that there are no codes, I would say that it is fine to drive. More then likely the cluster is the issue and needs to be replaced. However, I am surprised that there are no codes but if there are not, then there are not.

Let us know what turns up with this as I am curious. Thanks

Hello! Update as promised. So it turned out the rear brakes were very misaligned. Since one of the brake lights did not turn on until after the inspection I’m not sure if this was missed or not by the mechanic. The combination meter is also faulty which is causing a lot of issues with the dash. They said there is a chance it’s the brake auxiliator (sorry if I’m spelling that wrong) but they drove the car around and the light didn’t come back on so they doubt it.
