Hello, I have question to ask. I have the truck listed above. Today while I was getting the pickup ready to change out the Pittman arm and idle arm, I found out that the “motor mounts were shot”. If possible, could you tell me step-by-step how to change out the motor mounts? I was told by a friend that you have to jack up the motor to change out the motor mounts. I looked up under the pickup this morning, I didn’t see a place to jack the motor up. I noticed that you can’t jack the motor up from the front of the engine because there is a big metal plate that come up from under the engine (welder to the frame of the pickup) and it cover the area under the crankshaft and belt puller. “Need help real bad”. Thank you, Bill H.

The manual does not give a lot of detail which is typical for older vehicles like this. I attached it below.

You are correct that you need to raise the engine. What I would suggest is raising the engine just enough (an inch or two) to get the mounts out and then the new in. You can do this by putting a large piece of wood on the oil pan and then put your jack on the wood. Do not put the jack directly on the oil pan or you will buckle it or worse.

The wood will disperse the weight enough so that the oil pan is not damaged.

Let me know if you have questions and we can go from there. Thanks
