I'm not sure what 'category' this falls into. A few miles ago, the 'service engine soon' light came on when I was almost out of gas. I filled the tank and in a few miles the light went out. The light came back on again, I have 1/2 a tank of gas. I change the oil in the car as close every 2,000 miles as I can. It is due to be changed.

Hi jozee2,

Thank you for the donation.

When the SES indicator light is turned on, a trouble code has been stored in the PCM when a fault has been detected. If the fault recurrs, the light would turn on each time the engine is started.

You would need to get a scan done to retrieve the trouble code to understand what is causing it. Autozone provides free scanning services and let me know the exact trouble code so we can proceed from there.

By the way recheck the gas cap, close and turn it so that it clicks at least 3 times to ensure it is fully sealed.
