Overdrive

Ihave a 1997 mitsubishi galant and the overdrive doesn'twork it drives okay in the city but when I drive the highway. The motor races as if the car is stuck in overdrive or it doesn't shift gears. Can I replace the overdrive or do I have to replace the transmission? I have a automatic transmission. Help!

Sounds like your end clutchs are shot. Clutch are in the end cover of tranny no need to remove tranny 4 bolts hold cover on replace clutch pack (soak in sp3 fliud for 2hr) before installing. Need to make sure clutch is seated on all the before installing cover. Replace rubber seal. Good luck.
