1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse motor problems

I was doin 80 on the free way had cruise control on seen a cop on the side the road turned off cruise. Went past him turned it back on looked and my 97 eclipse with 133,000 miles 4 cylinder 2.0 non turbo auto tranny was running 4g on the tack. Turned the subs off and took a listen. Sounded ok then bam knock knock clunk clunk horrible shaking pulled off road and turned car off looked at motor no probs then re started still shook and knocked reved motor a little sounded good so I was like hmm drove it like 30 feet to park in a gas station and it stalled and wont start just wondering what look for before I start ripping it apart.
