1994 Mitsubishi Mirage Engine stalling/hesitation

After engine is warmed up, and car comes to complete stop, i.E. Stop light, and when I start to accelerate the engine starts stalling, major hesitation, this is especially noticable when making turns at interections---left turns are a nightmare. I quit driving it. A friend said if could be the diistributor coil. Thanks
