Sub model: Spyder GS with spoiler. Trying to remove and replace trunk lifts (struts). Can't find the right tool to unscrew the bolts. Appears to be a 3/16 allen head; but that just slips when trying to turn it.
Maybe it is a hex head? If so what is the size I need to remove the bolt?

IF it looks like a hex, it's probably a metric size. Best off getting a set that has multiple sizes. You'll come across a time that you'll be glad you have a set. I can't see it being more than 10 bucks for a standard set of them.

Is there a difference between allen head wrench and a hex head one? They both to be 6 points and they screw heads look almost identical.
No access to repair instructions for this vehicle that will tell you exactly what to use?

I would need to have the car to be able to tell you what the right size is, but the 6-point you describe is a torx bit:

I still recommend getting a set as they are common, but a stop into the parts store will get you the specific size.
