1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Eclipse jerks

I have a 1997 eclipse and while slowing down I starts to jerk. I dont know what the problem could be?

And the first time I start my car up, it will start up right away but some of the other times it will just seem like its about to start then die. I dont know what the problem with that is either?

please help!
