My engine bogged down and stalled. I've been in a car that flooded its engine before and thats what it felt like. I couldnt start my engine after that. The oil light pings and something turns in the engine but it wont fire. People tell me its my timing belt. I'm hoping for a cheaper solution?

Hello,

Ok, if I am reading correctly the engine turns over but the car won't start.

You say the Oil Light is on, Have you checked the oil? Some vehicle are equiped with a safety switch that will cause the vehicle stall or shut down then prevent the engine from being started when the Oil is very low. This prevents servere engine damage.

Also, since your engine is an Interference Type Engine and if the Timing Belt has broken then there is a good chance you have done more damage by attemping to start the engine.

I would suggest having a shop (one you trust) take a look at it.
