1997 Mitsubishi 3000GT How long do piston rings last?

My engine belt skipped and threw some valves and now that I have the cylinder heads off I wonder if I should change the piston rings while I am as far as I am. The cyl walls look good- original hatch marks with only a few very fine scratches.

I ask because mits had motors in dodge minivans that would smoke early and ihave seen quite a few of my car driving around burning oil.

With piston rings it really depends on how long they last. It depends on how hard the engine has been run. How good the engine has been took care of, and how often the oil was changed so changing the rings is really up to you, and yes mitsubishi did put motors in dodge minivans but not excatly the same motor
