Good news Joe. The cam sensors on the 2.5L are in the distributor. Code P1391 says either cam, crank or reluctor wheel. Everyone including 2 scopes pointed to crank sensor.

Received savvy advice that failure of cam sensors in reman Chinese/Mex distributors is high.

Pulled used $25.00 distributor from Mike Gill's in Warsaw, IN, and it's been running strong ever since. Returned $200.00 defective reman to Advance Auto.

Really appreciate all your input and hanging with me through this. Sure am glad I didn't bypass plug.

One of the lessons learned here is to continue to ask people (mechanics, etc). I visited a shop while out of town who immediately said, "oh yeah, those new remans, the cam sensors fail all the time in them!" Bonus, bonus, bonus.

Hi,

Honestly! One would think when spending that much money on a new part, it would be good, but anything is possible. When parts were manufactured in the US, the chances of that happening were lower. Not saying it couldn't happen, but it seemed to happen much less often. I don't think standards are the same.

Regardless, I'm glad to hear it's fixed. Good job.

Please feel free to come back anytime in the future if you have questions.

Take care of yourself.

Joe
