I put my car in park and the fuel cutoff switch came on as well as the brake light. Now the car does not want to start. What could have caused this and what can I do to fix it?

Hello,

It sounds like you may have hit a large bump setting off the inertia switch. Here is the location so you can check to see if this is what happened. Push down on the red button on the top of the switch.

Turn ignition switch to OFF. Check for leaking fuel in the engine compartment, fuel lines and fuel tank. If no fuel is apparent, reset the Inertia Fuel Shutoff (IFS) switch by pushing the reset button on top of switch. Turn ignition switch to START for a few seconds, then to OFF. Again, check for leaking fuel.

Location at the rear of the car (below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

You mean the reset button for the fuel pump? It is in the trunk, left side.

Are you getting spark and fuel to the engine not that you replaced the switch?
