1997 Mercury Sable Idling Issues with 97 Mercury Sable

I have a peculiar problem. My mercury sable was running good till recently, when I had a hard bump and it started to idle at 1500 rpm and at around 900 rpm in gear. I don't know why but I thought that going through a bump again might solve it and to my surprise, it did. However, this changed yesterday, when it started idling again at 1500 rpm. Now, I am not sure what is exactly wrong with it. Can anybody help ! Please!

Quite possibly one of your electrical harness under the hood is not making good, tight connection. I would open the hood, and push every single electrical wire harness, and make sure that they are tight. If I am to guess, I suspect your throttle position sensor or the idle air control harnesses, but check all of them, though.
