1998 Mercury Mystique Runs sometimes and then will not

My air conditioner blower runs sometimes and then it will not come on. When it does come on it blows good cold air or heat depending what I have it set for.

What could be causing it?

Thank you for the donation.

Most likely the blower motor is failing. When the problem happens again, turn on AC and give the blower motor housing some vibrations, tapping (banging) it with your fist and if it starts up, the blower motor is due for retirement.

The blower motor is under the dash on passenger side, behind glovebox.
