Brakes problem
2006 Mercury Montego 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

Changed rear brake pads and rotors for my mother-in-law on her 2006 Mercury Montego. The whole thing went pretty good after I figured out the turn calipers. The problem is that the pads are dragging and I took off and made sure they were seated properly. I also turned the calipers in a little more with bleeder open and drag decreased but is still there? I'm pulling hair out of my head with this one and almost bald! If anyone can help please! Additionally, is there any way to test if calipers are bad?

Check to see if you left the parking brake on or if it has released all the way. Usually that'sthe reason that the brakes drag. Most ofyour braking is done on the front and the backs come on at the last when you push the pedal down. If they are dragging thecalipers would come off hard, as the pads would drag the rotor. However the calipers could be frozen and the only way tofix a frozen caliper is to rebuild it or replace it.
